The city has a large number of sights, such as the ruins of the Kingdom of Kition, the salt lake that is used as a wintering place by thousands of migrating birds and the Bust of Cimon, an Athenian general.
You certainly must see the Hala Sultan Tekesi. This mosque was built in 1816 over the grave of Umm Haram, a relative of the Prophet Mohammed. De Tekesi is also an important Islamic pilgrimage site. Other tourist attractions include Agios Lazaros Church and Larnaca Fort, which was built in 1625 and functioned as a prison for some time, before becoming a cultural centre, which is still its function today.
